The new UNIQLO store at Stonebriar Mall has become a popular spot since opening, and I recently checked it out to see how accessible it would be for wheelchair users and others with mobility needs. Accessibility can be essential in crowded stores, and with a new store layout and design, there are always high hopes. UNIQLO’s wide entrance allows easy access to the store, which is helpful, but the layout inside presents some challenges.

Once inside, I found that the layout felt tight, especially with a large crowd. Despite the store’s two floors, maneuvering was difficult because of narrow aisles and merchandise boxes on the floor, which limited movement and made it hard to navigate around people. While the products were organized well, the high volume of shoppers and lack of clear pathways made moving comfortably through the store a struggle. Additionally, with the staff fully occupied, no one offered assistance, which would have been helpful given the tight spaces.

Personal Experience at UNIQLO Stonebriar

My brother and I decided to visit the new UNIQLO store to check out what they had, but since it had only been open for two weeks, it was extremely crowded. While it was exciting to see the new store, navigating it in my wheelchair was challenging. Despite the spacious entrance, the store still felt cramped on both floors due to the crowd size and scattered boxes on the floor. The staff seemed preoccupied with managing the crowds and restocking, so no one asked if I needed help, which made it harder to shop comfortably. Ultimately, we ended up leaving sooner than planned because the experience was simply overwhelming, especially with the store’s tight layout. It probably would have been a better experience during the week when the crowds were smaller.

Final Rating: 3 out of 5

While UNIQLO Stonebriar has a convenient entrance and a wide variety of products, the crowded, tight layout and lack of staff assistance made the experience challenging. A weekday visit might provide a more comfortable experience, especially for those with accessibility needs.
