This post is a little different than my usual reviews. Instead of focusing on just one location, this is more of a day-in-the-life look at accessibility—running errands and grabbing dinner, just like anyone else. On this particular day, our stops were Fiesta Mart in Lewisville and El Viejón Seafood, and thankfully, both made the experience easy and enjoyable.
Stop One: Fiesta Mart in Lewisville
I really like going to this specific Fiesta Mart because it’s newer, nicer, and much more spacious than the one I used to go to in Dallas. Right away, things start off on the right foot with ADA parking located right next to the entrance, which makes getting inside quick and stress-free.
Once inside, the store is super spacious and easy to navigate with my wheelchair. The aisles are wide, everything is laid out nicely, and moving around while grocery shopping felt effortless. We were able to take our time, walk around, and get everything we needed without any accessibility concerns—which is exactly how it should be.
Stop Two: El Viejón Seafood
After finishing our grocery shopping, we were hungry, so we decided to head over to El Viejón Seafood. When we arrived, we parked in the back since the ADA parking closer to the restaurant is usually busy. That front ADA area also leads directly to the patio and needs to be opened from the inside by an employee, so parking in the back tends to be the easier option.
Inside the restaurant, it was somewhat busy, but the staff did a great job accommodating us. They were able to seat us at a table with plenty of space for me and my wheelchair, which made dinner comfortable and relaxed. We had a great meal and an even better time.
Final Thoughts
From running errands to sitting down for dinner, this day was a great example of how accessibility plays a huge role in everyday life. Both Fiesta Mart in Lewisville and El Viejón Seafood were easy to navigate, welcoming, and accommodating—making the entire experience smooth from start to finish.
