From Aisles to Accessibility: Navigating Macy’s with Ease

Macy’s is a staple department store with a wide selection of products, but how does it fare in terms of accessibility? My experience at the NorthPark Center location was generally positive, but there were a few challenges that made navigating the store a bit frustrating.

A Friendly Atmosphere but Poor Signage

One of the best aspects of my visit was the super friendly staff, who were more than willing to assist when needed. However, finding the elevator inside Macy’s turned into an unexpected scavenger hunt. There was no signage directing customers to an elevator, despite clear signs for escalators, fitting rooms, and checkout counters.

A Personal Shopping Experience

While at NorthPark Mall, I needed to get down to the first floor and figured Macy’s would have an accessible elevator. After wandering around aimlessly, I couldn’t find it anywhere. Thankfully, when I asked a staff member, they didn’t just give me directions—they personally walked me to it. However, I quickly realized why it was so hard to find—it was hidden all the way in the back of the second floor. To make matters worse, the hallway leading to the elevator was extremely tight, making navigation tricky. While I was eventually able to reach my destination, the lack of proper signage and inconvenient elevator placement made the experience more frustrating than it needed to be.

Final Thoughts

Macy’s gets points for friendly staff, but loses some for poor signage and a hidden, hard-to-access elevator.

3 out of 5 rating! ⭐

If you’re shopping at Macy’s NorthPark and need an elevator, be prepared to ask for help!
