Accessibility is an essential factor in creating a welcoming shopping experience, but at Dillard’s in Stonebriar Mall, there are significant challenges that make navigating the store as a wheelchair user difficult.

Accessibility Overview

At first glance, Dillard’s appears spacious, but the layout quickly proves otherwise. Merchandise areas are very tight, leaving little room for wheelchair users to move comfortably. Many sections of the store are completely inaccessible, making it nearly impossible to browse. Additionally, there is no clear signage for the elevator, which creates further difficulties for those needing to access the upper levels of the store.

Personal Experience at Dillard’s

My brother and I decided to stop at Dillard’s to use the elevator to get to the second floor of Stonebriar Mall. While there, we thought we’d take a look around, but navigating the store was a challenge. The aisles were tight, and most areas were impossible to access with my wheelchair. After struggling to move around, we decided to find the elevator, which proved to be another challenge due to the lack of clear signage. After wandering through the store, we finally located the elevator, used it to reach the second floor, and decided to leave.

Final Rating: 2 out of 5

Dillard’s has a long way to go in terms of accessibility. Tight layouts, inaccessible areas, and inadequate signage make it a frustrating experience for wheelchair users. While the store has potential, the current setup leaves much to be desired. 2 out of 5 for accessibility.
